The company KLEENOIL AG since 1986 is working on a perfect oil system with the aim to separate oil from the image of being a single-use product. In the current stage this contains an all-inclusive package where high-performance oils, KLEENOIL by-pass filtration and oil analysis monitoring systems form a functioning unit. The most important part still is the oil itself, wherupon apart from a high technical efficiency it more and more has to also comply with environmental requirements.
To be considered as rapidly biodegradable, oils have to (at least) be rapidly biodegradable according to the OECD guidelines (complete degradation). If this is the case, they mostly also are classified in a lower water hazard class than conventional oils. In some cases these products are awarded with various ecolabels, e.g. the EEL (European Ecolabel). Normally only rapidly biodegradable oils based on saturated synthetic esteres are suitable for a long-term application. Oils on this basis also are convincing due to their very low pourpoint (up to -60°C) and thus prove their excellent low temperature stability.
The carbon footprint shows the global warming potential of a product over a period of time determined by its use. Following multiple resolutions by the UN Climate Change Conferences, calling for CO₂ reduction, it can be assumed that commercial companies will increasingly be required to demonstrate CO₂ savings. In this case, too, fully synthetic oils being suitable for long-term application with smooth-running properties offer a considerable potential for demonstrating CO₂ reduction.
The smooth-running properties of fully synthetic oils allow for a more or less noticeable saving of energy, of course depending on the product, the application and the coordination. In this sector again and again advertising messages come up, promising energy savings even in the range of two digits - such high values, in most of the cases might be unrealistic. Observed seriously, anyhow, with our high-performance oils an energy saving of between 1 and up to nearly 5% can be achieved and we can prove that with tests, both in the practical application as well as on the test benches.
Rapidly biodegradable oils consistently have a higher purchase price than non-biodegradable, mineral oil based oils. The balanced cost effectiveness can only be restored by the longer service life. The oils supplied by KLEENOIL AG are suitable for long-term employment and do not have to be changed in the habitually prescribed intervals as long as the application and guarantee regulations of the manufacturer are observed. With the use of such oils in mobile machines (e.g.construction machines or the like) operating times of more than 20.000 operating hours without oil change have been proven. In the industrial application (e.g. in injection moulding machines) more than 100,000 operating hours are achieved. The long-term application positively influences the economic as well as the ecologic balance.
In the same way a top athlete has to particularly take care of himself and his body, nearly everything giving a high-performance result has to protect the own high-performance characteristics by requesting a higher maintenance effort. The same applies to high performance oils. Some manufacturers in the past decades have concentrated on the development of microfitration systems for technical oils, and so did KLEENOIL. There are various application advantages of KLEENOIL Microfiltration. The maintenance of oils and components by using such a microfiltration system in the by-pass contributes to the reduction of system failures, wear and total breakdowns. The ageing process is decelerated if with the used filter technique, apart from the solid contaminants, also water is removed from the oil. KLEENOIL filter systems are exclusively designed for filtration of hydrocarbon-based fluids. The particular advantages in this case are an excellent efficiency with a low filtration fineness (1 - 3 µm) as well as a high dirt retention capacity of the filter element. Thanks to the sophisticated construction the additives used in the oils remain unaltered even with a very low filter fineness. The other contaminats with a catalytic and abrasive effect (water and solid particles) are successfully removed.
De facto it is unthinkable, to advertise the long-term use of oils, without (at least) making periodical oil analyses. Generally it can be said, that oils should be analysed in a laboratory at least in the same intervals as they normally would have been changed. Since several decades laboratory analyses are integral part of the KLEENOIL AG application concept. Within the scope of the guarantee commitment also the incurring costs for the analyses are covered.
In-between the oil change intervals and/or the analysis intervals the use of the employed oils can be compared to a "blind flight without any instruments"! In order to avoid the risk, in the majority of cases, the change intervals and/or analysis intervals are kept rather short. According to today´s state of technology it is possible to realize all oil-related measures, e.g. oil analyses or oil changes depending on the condition. To be able to do that KLEENOIL AG has developed the Integrated Fluid Concept. The main constituent of this concept is the oil analysis sensor KLEENOIL ICC (Identification Contamination Control) wherewith the condition analysis (quality comparison) is monitored every 30 minutes directly in the machine. Interesting is the possibility of connecting it to a telematic system. In this way machines can efficiently be monitored remotely.
